My pet rabbit Frodo is nearly five months now and is a dwarf crossed lop. My experience takes place about three days after I got Frodo. I had never had a rabbit before and had not done much research about looking after one. I have previously owned a guinea pig and it was a very large guinea pig and used to sit on the grass and eat, it never tried to make a run for it, it just sat and ate. So when I decided to take Frodo out and give him some time on the grass I just expected he would sit there and munch on the grass, but boy was I wrong and I soon learned that. As soon as Frodo was on the grass he made a run for it. Forgetting everything, I chased after him, dodging chairs and soccer balls, when all of a sudden he turned and ran under our side fence into our next-door neighbour's garden. Now, our next-door neighbours have a Border Collie, which works on a farm and is trained to kill any rabbits that it finds. Poor little Frodo had ran straight under their fence. After I heard a few barks from the Border Collie I thought that my new pet which I had had for only three days had been attacked by their dog. I started to cry and opened the door to go back inside when all of a sudden I heard a further six or seven barks then out shot Frodo from under the side fence and straight inside through the open door. I am extremely lucky that I still have Frodo today. I wonder if it was a coincidence that Frodo ran back under the fence and through the open door, or if it was just fate that Frodo and I should be together.
